I have built a mashup against a tabular SSAS with a specific DAX query. It returns 1.5million rows and takes about 2 minutes in DAX Studio and is consistently reliable. I am getting errors from Power BI Desktop where it gets a timeout error, but there is nowhere to set the timeout on the SSAS connection manager.
Please tell me if there is a registry setting or something somewhere so I can execute this directly? Thanks
The exact error I'm getting is OLE DB or ODBC error [DataSource.Error] AnalysisServices: The connection either timed out or was lost.
As you mentioned, there's no setting for timeout when you connecting from Power BI Desktop. Please go to SSAS server Properties, increase ExternalCommandTimeout and ExternalConnectionTimeout, or can specify 0 to set it with no timeout. Please see: General Properties.
Regards,
How does one go to SSAS Server Properties from Power BI desktop to change the ExternalTimeout limit?
