I have a column that i need to split, easy enough, however, i need some of the column split by left 3 and some of the column split by left 5. For example, I have a class number SCL355-Cooking, and a class SCLS0276601-TV The nubers i need are 355, and 276. Is this possible?
Hey @jgralow, I would try using "Column from Examples" and see if the Query Editor can figure it out for you.
If you're not familiar with this feature, here's a link to a video I posted:

Hope this helps,

If the value contains seven numbers like that, do you always want the three numbers at that posititon?
The value in the column will range from 6 to 15 numbers, the 3 numbers i want to extract will vary depending on the size.
You can use several "if" statements to check the length of the value, then if true split at the required position.
Some info on nested if statements: https://www.myonlinetraininghub.com/power-query-if-statements
