Query Download Size Increased 6x - Why?

Good afternoon.  I'm have a workbook setup to pull data from a list in SharePoint.  Based on some additional requirements, I decided to develop a new version from scatch so I could setup the data a little differently, and make different relationships.  Previously, when I conducted a refresh on the query, it was around ~35MB and took about 5 minutes.  Now for some reason it's around 220MB+ and can take 30 or more minutes to refresh.

The added download size doesn't really affect the workbook size, but it's simply taking forever to pull in updates/new content, and I have no idea why.

Any thoughts?

The query steps can be summaried as follows:

  1. Connected to source
  2. Renamed columns
  3. Extracted values from column list
  4. Extract values from column list
  5. Sorted
  6. Added Index value
  7. Removed (~20) irrelevant columns

Is the sequence I have setup causing more data to be pulled down than I need?  Should I try re-ordering or removing steps?
