Hello everyone,
I have been using Power BI Desktop for the past two months and initially had no issues importing, transforming, and loading data files. However, I am now facing a persistent problem that has disrupted my workflow.
I can import data into Power Query and perform various transformations, such as cleaning, reshaping, and modifying the data, without any issues. The transformations are applied successfully within Power Query, and there are no visible errors or warnings. However, when I try to apply the changes by clicking Close & Apply, Power BI freezes indefinitely. The loading screen appears but stays stuck, forcing me to close the application manually after waiting for extended periods by ending tasks through task manager.
Additionally, if I attempt to upload external data files directly into Power BI without opening Power Query, I encounter a different issue. A blank window appears, and the data never loads. This happens consistently with all external data files I try uploading.
Interestingly, Power BI’s built-in sample files upload and function without any problems, suggesting the issue might be specific to external data files or some configuration within my Power BI environment.
To troubleshoot, I verified that the external data files are not corrupted, as others can use the same files without any issues. I also uninstalled and reinstalled PowerBI Desktop, but the problem persists. I ensured that the files I upload are in supported formats, such as Excel and CSV. I even restarted my system several times to rule out temporary glitches. Despite these efforts, the issue remains unresolved.
I would greatly appreciate any guidance, troubleshooting steps, or suggestions on how to resolve this issue.

Image of blank screen after loading Data. This image shows the blank screen that appears whenever I attempt to upload data. As a result, Power BI gets stuck, and I am forced to close the tab. No data is uploaded during this process. Also to mention, all other files were uploaded only in one case, if firstly I uploaded the in-built BI data samples and then the data on my part. If I don't use the sample files first, I am unable to upload any other data on the first try.

Here are a few troubleshooting steps and suggestions that might help resolve the problem:
1.Increase Data Cache Limit:
Go to File > Options and settings > Options.
Under Global, select Data Load.
Increase the Maximum allowed (MB) for the data cache.
2.Ensure you are using the latest version of Power BI Desktop. Sometimes, bugs are fixed in newer releases.
3.Clear Power BI Cache:
Go to File > Options and settings > Options.
Under Global, select Data Load.
Click on Clear cache.

Nope, there is no VPN involved.
How many files are we talking about? The sizes? The transformations done? Because if you initially had no issues then the growing size and count of the raw data could be the culprit.
I am unable to upload any data file, even after trying different formats like CSV and Excel. I don’t believe file size is the issue because when I use the "Transform Data" option, the data uploads successfully in Power Query. However, I am unable to apply changes to the raw data. I also tested sample datasets from the internet, but none of them uploaded. After loading, sometimes a tab appears for "Processing Queries," then a new blank window opens, but nothing appears.
