Hi Community people,
i'm trying to merge 2 datasets with a common field created on purpose: these 2 datasets have the same information but classified differently, hence I created this common field then made into a query to rematch the 2 datasets.
While it perfectly matches the query where this column derives, it completely miss the other one:
Do you have any idea why?
Hi @Anonymous ,
In your scenario, you should switch the Join kind to Right join as the picture below.
Hi @Anonymous ,
Kindly share your sample data and excepted result to me if you don't have any Confidential Information. Please upload your files to One Drive and share the link here.
Hi Frank @v-frfei-msft
I gave you the 2 files, either way, I should try to get to the same result, it's just two alternative ways of doing it:
this is the one we're talking about
Hi @Anonymous ,
Sorry I canot access the files by your link. Could you please check and share again?
I think my company is restricting access for those in different domains. Try with this:

Hi @Anonymous ,
Based on my test using part of your data. I can get all columns by mergeing queries. Please check the attached pbix and source files. You can update the file path in Power query and view the M code.
Hi @v-frfei-msft Frank,
sorry for such a late reply but I had to wait until my laptop got replaced with Windows 10 as PBI was unstable with Windows 7.
Coming back to this, it perfectly matches if we merge with QF DATA, but 0 merges with VA data.
the coding query is the reference of QF DATA without all columns but coding. I also try to split this as a new source but when it comes to merge with VA data, 0 matches
any idea why?
