Dear Experts:
When I mark a Date table as 'Mark as Date table' in Power BI, it removes the auto-generated date hierarchies and the hidden date tables associated with them.
I tried it out and it worked, but what stunned me that the auto date/time option is still checked under the Options Settings for the Current File. I thought this setting would be unchecked automatically when I mark a date table as 'Mark as a date table'.
Now here comes my question: If I want to reduce the model size, unchecking this option 'auto date/time' for the current file won't have any effect since the hidden tables have already been removed with this 'Mark as Date Table' Setting.
Am I getting this right?
Help is very much appreciated. Thank you very much in advance
Best Regards, Andreas

When you mark a table as a date table, Power BI stops generating hidden date tables and hierarchies for that specific table. This helps reduce the model size and improves performance by eliminating unnecessary tables and columns.
If you are managing your date tables explicitly (which is a good practice for better control and performance), it is generally recommended to uncheck the auto date/time option to avoid any unintended creation of hidden date tables for other date columns in your model.
Thank you very much Amira for the insights and the best practice method.
