Fiscal year forecasting analytics

Is it possible to create a Line Graph with Fiscal Year in the x-axis and have a Forecast of the values? It works fine with other Date types, but not with FY that I have added as a column in my Calendar table.

1 ACCEPTED SOLUTION

OK, here goes...

Have your Fiscal year column as whole number.

Before.JPGSelect the column and in the Format window type in your FY format. In my case "FY"00 to get

Format.JPG

Even though it looks like the column is now type text, it is actually still a whole number. You can now use the column in the axis and add the forecast :

I don't have acces to Desktop, but won't including the date field and Fiscal Year on the axis work? And the drill down to FY?

The moment I add FY to the axis, the Forecast functionality gets disabled.

Thanks, that seems to work.

Related to this, is Forecasting possible only for single series data? Our client got back asking if a Stacked Area chart could be shown with the forecasting data. Based on what I can see, it doesn't seem possible. Is Forecasting possible only in Line Graph?

I believe the only in-built forecasting option is with the line graph with a single set of data values.

You could try writing a measure though. (you will then need the date table to cover the future periods)

@Anonymous forecasting only works if you have a date or numeric field on the x-axis.

Thanks. Is there a workaround that I can use where I assign numeric values to the FY, but then show the actual FY in the x-axis labels. Is that possible?
