Hi,
Trying to get my head around accuracy of data when using an Import approach (as opposed to Direct Query)
I understand you can change frequency of refresh but for those users who want to see a data change appear in a report immediately, is there a way of manually refreshing from a end user perspective.
The environment is only very small so I cant see ther need in refreshing data at a regular intervals but when its required, its required.
Thanks in advance
Todd

Not in import mode, no.
- Power BI does not support writing into the current semantic model
- End users can submit a semantic model refresh request (for example via a Power Automate visual button and flow), HOWEVER that is just a request. There is no guarantee whatsoever that the refresh is happening, how long it takes, and if it will be successful. They whole process is highly asynchronous with no indication whatsoever as to its status (unless you put in extra polling work)
- Even when the semantic model refresh has completed the report user will NOT see the change until they manually refresh the browser page.
This is a horrible UX and not ready for any sort of production process.

Hi,
You can allow the end-users to do the refresh themselves either via direct privileges (e.g. adding them to the workspace) or via roles. You can also fetch and display the last refresh date/time.
Hope this helps.
Thanks @MNedix
My users only work on Model Driven App in Powerapps.
Power BI Reports is published to a Dashboard inside this.
Would your theory still work if I was to give users access to Workspace?
Your scenario seems to be quite specific so I can't say for sure it will work. You could test it with a colleague/user you can trust from within the company (so you don't breach any security rule and don't screw someting up). Alternatively, you can ask your IT to create another domain user for you (e.g. PowerBI_Test@<company.com>) and test whatever you need without fear of security breaching. If (and only IF) ITSec allows it, as a last resort, you can use your private email but this is a very unsecured option.
I hope this helps.
