Change the date format and keep the initial hierachy

Hi every one, I got a problem when I try to change the date display format.

Initially my date is displayed in " 1 January 2017 " but I want to use the abbr instead so I change the format under modeling:

But I found that I cannot use the date hierachy anymore like:

Date is the column I changed. I want somethinig like what "Period" has. The data in the table is in 1/1/2017 format.

Can anyone help me with it? Thanks!

Hi @Anonymous,

This couldn't be caused by the format. Is the "Date" in the many side of a relationship and the part of the relationship? This is the cause. You can get the date hierarchy in the one side.

If this can't solve the issue, could you please provide the file after deleting confidential parts?

Best Regards!

Yes! "Date" and "Period" are from different tables and they are connected. So in this case only one side the date data will keep the hirarchy is it?

Hi @Anonymous,

Yes, you are right. Actually, we only need one hierarchy. The aim we establish a relationship is to bring tables together.
