Azure Maps Reference Layer interaction with data coordinates forced to average coordinates

In the second part of the video, I demonstrate the limitation of having latitude and longitude data interacting with a reference layer, where we're currently forced to average these locations. I would like to know if the November update will introduce the 'Don't Summarize' feature for latitude and longitude, so we can display all locations with a shapefile superimposed as a layer.

Hi ALP,

Currently, the Azure Maps visual does not support the coexistence of a data-bound reference layer with other data layers. From your demo, I can see that you've successfully bound your shapefile with additional columns, and it’s working as expected. However, due to current limitations, it’s not feasibile to overlay this with other data layers by lat/long as of today.

This is a scenario we're actively considering for future support. That said, the implementation is complex, and we don’t yet have a confirmed timeline for when this capability will be available.

Hi, @ALP_Gallagher

At the moment, we don't have a way to see the video you provided, so you can consider using screenshots to illustrate:

But I make the following recommendations based on your description:

1.I may need to clarify that, as you understand, this is a result of the design of Azure Maps.

When entering both Location along with Longitude and Latitude, you should change the aggregation method for Longitude and Latitude to Average.

If you are only using Longitude and Latitude or Location, you will need to disable the aggregation method.

3.If you feel that performance needs to be improved, you can also submit an idea on

https://ideas.fabric.microsoft.com/ and wait for users with the same needs as you to vote for you and help you realize the idea as soon as possible. Many features of our current products are designed and upgraded bed on customers’ feedback.  With requirements like this increase, the problem may well be released in the future.

Hi,@ALP_Gallagher
Thank you for your prompt response.

I regret to inform you that, in accordance with our security protocols, I am still unable to view the video you provided:

Furthermore, if you wish to prevent the aggregation of latitude and longitude, you simply need to leave the location field empty in the visualisation settings:

Of course, if you have any new ideas, you are welcome to contact us.

Hi there,

So currently we can't visualize a report with Reference layer and locations (lat longs). Averaging them is not helpful at all! Will the next update account for this limitation?
