Power BI custom visuals useful links for developers
Hi Community!
I would like to display a Waterfall graph with customizable bar colors (not depending if they are positive or negative but depending of the specific column).
Right now I am using the "Simple Waterfall" graph by Datanomy Technologies Limited but I cannot see this option. Do you know how can I approach this issue?
FYI - This is part of my graph and I would like column C to be always green:
Thank you again for your help.
Best regards,
Elena

The Timeline visual is currently broken. Visual works if I clear the date filter and select entire range, as soon as I select a specific range my visuals all error.
App version is 2.4.0 with an update in the store to go to v2.5.13.0. This new version fails to install, even after removing v2.4.0 (or the version number in 2.5.13.0 is incorrect). A lot of reviews in the store are reporting the same issue.
Visual About after the update:
Edit: The plot thickens! All date slicers appear to break my visuals, so it's not limited to the Timeline visual. I have since downgraded (?), or removed the MS Store version of PowerBI and done a manual install of PBIDesktopSetup-2025-02_x64.exe v2.140.157.0 and my visuals are all working again. So the problem appears to be with a recent build of PowerBI and quite possibly limited to the Microsoft Store version.
First of all: Thank you very much! I managed to solve the same issue by downgrading to the February version of PBI Desktop.
Besides that, I'm very curious if this error was addressed correctly and is under review by Microsoft, as it is a huge problem.
I can assure you this has nothing to do with my computer, as I tried everything (even completely reinstalled the PC). I don't know about you, but I'm using an ARM-based PC; maybe that's something to consider.
Happy to help!
Curious, did you try version 2.142.928.0 64-bit (April 2025) from the Microsoft Store? Because this version appears to be working for me as of last week. It's still broken for others, and I am unsure if it's the version, the source, or me just happening to stumble upon the perfect scenario of uninstall/reinstall steps to get it working.
To be honest, I'm currently working on a very tight project, so I wouldn't like to test it any time soon. However, I will let you know as soon as I have the time to do so.
Hi there, if I have an activity that takes place from 1st Jan 2025 until 31st March 2025, and I change my dates slicer to show me stuff on 3rd Jan, it will ignore the above project as the date on slicer is after the start date. How to make it work so it's always showing all activities in that specific day?
Hi Ranin,
How does the custom visual created by the Microsoft community work?
Are they updated regularly? Can I request specific features? If so, what is the typical timeline?
Or, since it's community-based, does it depend on contributions from anyone at random times?
My understanding is the second one; however, my Power BI admin insists that the first one is the case.
I truly appreciate your clarification.
Best,
YN
This visual is using the "Background elements" portion of the Theme ONLY for the "grey" portions that you see on this image
First off, it should probably be using the "Secondary background elements" field instead, and second of all it shouldnt' be ONLY theming this small section of the visual... this is completely broken and is even broken with the out of the box themes.
So I created a dashboard with sunburst visual V2 2.3. My dashboard has 4 charts alltogether and i edited the interactions between each other so that when i select a segment in one chart the selection in the other charts dont disappear. But now after microsoft updated to V6 in these charts that option is lost. Now Selections inside one Sunburst will still be lost when clicking another. Any fix for this?
Hello All,
I have been given the task to create a line chart. The line chart will contain Actual and Predicted Values. The Forecasted/Predicted Values need to be represented by a dotted line while the actual values will have a solid line..I need to achieve this feature in a line graph..What do you recommend how i do it? There is something called Charticulator that I am not very much aware of? will that work for this or I can do it simply with another chart from the marketplace..Please help me here
Hello: It is ok for me too ! Thanks !

I have run into an issue with the Timeline Slicer visual not getting updated. Both the desktop and online versions of BI are installing version 2.4.0 from Appsource. In Desktop I can just force it to ignore appsource and install a newer version from a local file but this doesn't help with my published reports. Is there something I can do to get version 2.5.11 in PowerBI Service?
I'm seeing a new issue with the Timeline Slicer visual now. It seems that the PBI Service site is no longer respecting the Force Selection of the 'latest available period'. It still does in the Desktop app, but not in the service. When activity rolls to a new month, the slicer in the service is simply staying on whatever the most recent month was when last published. It used to work, but have noticed this anomaly over the last 2-3 weeks. Any ideas for a fix?
Yeah, it has been like this for well over a month now if not longer. It is quite annoying
For us, the problem is solved this morning, release 2.4.0 is back on the Power BI Services platform
Just noticed the same thing. Everything is magically back to normal for the Timeline Slicer. Thank you to the folks that solved it!
Hello Support,
The problem is apparently general: I have this problem with the "TimeLine Slicer" visual on all pages of all my reports! The PBI DESKTOP version (V. 2.4.0) is not the same as the PBI SERVICE version (V.2.5.11.0)... This is a lot of work to edit all pages of all reports and publish everything... Please publish a fix soon...
