Fabric Admin access control
Hi
Recently, my organization has transitioned to Fabric capacity, and my management wants to grant access to the developer only a select few features, such as Dataflow Gen2, rather than all of them. I don't know how we can do it, but if anyone has a video that would be helpful.
What do you mean with Fabric usage? As I said you can't control feature level permission.
The only thing you can do is disable the "user can create fabric items" option in admin settings. But with this disabled they will not be able to create dataflow gens2

Hi venkatakrish_01 You unfortunately can't control which Fabric features a developer can create. As Gabry mentions, you grant permission to create Fabric items and that includes all Fabric items.

Hey venkatakrish_01 ,
you can’t directly “turn on only Dataflow Gen2” for a developer in Fabric the way your management is asking. Fabric doesn’t work with feature-level permissions like that. It’s workspace + item + capacity governance, not feature toggles per user.

Okay, if we want to give access only for a few workspaces, I want to control the rest. Do you have any other option?

Sure, the best approach is to use a security group:
- Create a security group containing all developer users.
- Go to the target workspace.
- Assign permissions to that security group using the lowest role that still allows them to work (typically Contributor).
This way, you can centrally manage access and restrict developers only to the intended workspaces.
For more details on roles, you can take a look at the documentation:

Thank you for that, but I want to control the Fabric usage
