Microsoft Fabric Subscription Issue
Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone can help me with an issue regarding my Microsoft Fabric/Azure account.
I created this account specifically to use the Microsoft Fabric free trial for learning Data Engineering and Data Analytics. I had no intention of purchasing a paid or annual subscription.
Before the trial ended, I cancelled it because I wanted to make sure that I would not be charged. However, I am now seeing repeated attempts to charge my card approximately AUD $392.
Fortunately, the card currently does not have sufficient funds, so the payment has not gone through. However, Microsoft appears to keep attempting the charge, and I’m concerned that there may be an active paid subscription or annual plan associated with my account that I was not aware of.
Could someone please advise me on:
- How I can identify exactly what the AUD $392 charge is for?
- How I can completely cancel any active Microsoft Fabric/Azure subscription or recurring billing?
- Who I should contact at Microsoft regarding this billing issue?
- Whether Microsoft Support can cancel or waive this charge, considering the account was created only for learning and I believed I had already cancelled the trial?
- How I can confirm that there will be no further charges or payment attempts?
I definitely do not want an annual subscription or any paid Fabric/Azure services. I only created the account to learn Microsoft Fabric using the trial.
I would really appreciate any guidance on how to resolve this and contact the correct Microsoft billing/support team.
Thank you very much for your help.

The first thing to establish is what service generated the AUD $392 charge. A cancelled Fabric trial does not automatically mean every Microsoft subscription associated with the account has been cancelled.
- Sign in to the Azure portal and review Cost Management + Billing -> Invoices and Cost Management + Billing -> Cost analysis. The invoice should identify the exact subscription, service, and billing period associated with the charge.
- In Cost Management + Billing -> Subscriptions, verify whether any Azure subscription is still in an Active state. It is possible for a Fabric trial to be cancelled while an Azure subscription remains active and continues to incur charges.
- If you used Fabric through an Azure backed capacity, review the subscription's resource list for any active Fabric capacities or other billable Azure resources. In many cases, the unexpected charge is caused by a resource that remained deployed rather than the trial itself.
- Check Microsoft 365 Admin Center -> Billing -> Your products (if accessible for your account) to confirm there are no active paid Microsoft subscriptions or recurring renewals associated with the same tenant.
- A declined card payment does not cancel a subscription or outstanding invoice. If a balance exists, payment attempts may continue until the underlying subscription and billing relationship are resolved.
One additional check worth performing is to compare the billing date of the AUD $392 charge against the date you cancelled the trial. If the charge relates to usage that occurred before cancellation, it may appear on a subsequent invoice even though the trial has already been ended.

Hello Fabrictraining,
The first step is to identify exactly what the AUD $392 charge relates to. Cancelling a Fabric trial does not necessarily cancel a separate Azure subscription or other Microsoft subscription.- Check the charge and active billing
In the Azure portal, go to Cost Management + Billing → Invoices and Cost analysis. You should be able to see where the AUD $392 charge came from and which billing period it relates to. Then check Cost Management + Billing → Subscriptions to see if there is still an active Azure subscription or any billable resources. If you find an Azure subscription you no longer need, Microsoft has the cancellation steps here:
Cancel and delete your Azure subscription - Check the Fabric trial
If you only cancelled the Fabric trial, also check that the trial itself was cancelled:
Close your account, cancel your subscription, end your trial
It is worth checking the billing period as well, since the charge could relate to usage before the trial was cancelled. - Check for other Microsoft billing
If the Azure checks do not explain the charge, check whether there are other paid Microsoft subscriptions or recurring billing associated with the account or tenant. - Contact Microsoft Billing Support
If you still cannot identify the charge, open a billing support request from the Azure portal:
Azure Support request
Select Billing as the issue type and provide the invoice or charge details. Microsoft can confirm what the charge is for and advise whether anything can be refunded or waived.
- Check the charge and active billing

I’m finding it extremely difficult to locate an option to contact a human support representative, which has been quite frustrating.
I created this subscription solely for Microsoft Fabric training and learning purposes, and I was under the impression that I was using a trial subscription. I did not knowingly sign up for an ongoing paid subscription, nor was I aware that I would be charged approximately AUD $392.
I have already attempted to cancel the trial/subscription because I do not wish to continue with any paid service. However, I am still seeing attempts to charge my card.
The Azure portal appears to direct me through automated or AI-based support options, and I cannot find a clear way to speak with a human representative regarding this billing issue.
Could someone please advise me on the correct channel to contact a Microsoft/Azure human support representative for billing assistance? I would like to understand why this charge has occurred, ensure that the subscription and any associated paid services are fully cancelled, and make sure that no further charges are attempted.
I would greatly appreciate assistance from a Microsoft support representative in resolving this issue.
