Hey, I'm stuck. I have a problem: I created a report that loads extremely quickly on Igels in a workspace that's been around for a long time. But that workspace isn't meant for that. So I created a new workspace with the same license and the same settings, etc. In this new workspace, it feels like my report isn't loading at all. The text shows up, but every chart or table takes a full 10 minutes to load. I’ve already spent many days trying to find the error, even with the help of AI, but I can’t find it. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this or what I’m doing wrong? Best regards, Freddy - Power BI Pro License455Views0likes6CommentsSalesforce Report Problem with lastest Power BI Update
Hi, I'm having an issue importing 3 salesforce reports into Power BI. Here are a few things to note: - problem started after I did a Power BI update a couple of weeks ago - I've been using these 3 salesforce reports to generate a dashboard for the last year with no problems - the salesforce report is pulling the right data. Verified by downloading the data into an excel file - power bi seems to be bringing in the wrong data and am not sure why - I also get the following error when importing data for one of the 3 reports OLE DB or ODBC error: Type mismatch. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80020005 (DISP_E_TYPEMISMATCH)). Any ideas on what might be causing this problem? Thank you!1.2KViews1like2CommentsPower BI Image URLs from Tenant-Secured SharePoint – Intermittent Rendering Issues
Hi everyone, I’m experiencing ongoing issues with displaying image URLs in Power BI reports and apps, and I’m struggling to identify a reliable solution. Context We store employee/user headshots as image URLs in a user lookup table within the models. These images are used across multiple reports for UI elements such as: Logged-in user icons Employee of the Month visuals Leaderboards and other internal dashboards The images are hosted in a company SharePoint folder maintained by our Marketing team. All employees have view permissions to this SharePoint location (not anonymous access). Issue 1 – Power BI Service / Teams When opening reports in Power BI Service or via Teams, some images load correctly while others appear as broken image links. If I manually open the SharePoint image folder in my browser (authenticating via our tenant) and then refresh the report, the images display correctly. However, this only persists temporarily, typically by the next day the images are broken again. This makes me suspect an authentication, cookie, or caching issue rather than an issue with the URLs themselves. Issue 2 – Digital Signage We also surface these reports via a digital signage solution on screens around multiple offices. In this scenario, none of the SharePoint-hosted images render, they consistently show as broken links. Interestingly, the images display correctly in the digital signage platform’s preview, but fail once pushed to the physical screens. My assumption here is that the signage devices do not have the required authentication context (cookies / tokens) to access tenant-secured SharePoint images. Question Has anyone encountered similar behaviour when using SharePoint-hosted image URLs in Power BI? Is there a known or recommended approach for handling image authentication/caching issues like this? Are there better-practice alternatives for hosting images used in Power BI (especially for digital signage scenarios)? Would a different hosting method (e.g. public blob storage, CDN, base64 encoding, etc.) be more appropriate? Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as I’ve struggled to find clear documentation or examples covering this use case. Thanks in advance.1.3KViews0likes6CommentsUnable to render paginated report - Error

I would like to use PowerBI (if possible) to pull a monthly report of apps installed from the Company Portal/Intune. It seems like there's no easy way to do this easily for successful installations, but it is easy to pull reports for failures. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this. Any help is appreciated.806Views0likes2CommentsPrice question: Report server or Power BI PPU licenses
Good morning. My case is the following: I have 81 users who use power bi on the company's cell phone and notebook, sharing a single user with a PPU license. In order to regularize the situation, I made this proposal. 1. Purchase 81 power bi Premium licenses per user. Someone suggested working with the power bi reporting server and here is my request for help to the community. I know you need to have a P1 or F64 license to have the report server, but I read that with the SQL Express enterprise subscription with assurance it is possible. The question here is: What is the lowest possible value for using the report server? Would it be cheaper than purchasing individual licenses? And does the report server have a mobile look with the power bi service app? thanksSolved1.5KViews0likes4CommentsBug with Power BI Desktop January 2024 - Save SSAS-Live Connection Report as .pbit looses Measures
Power BI Desktop (Optimized for Power BI Report Server - January 2024), Version 2.124.1960.0, looses all Report Level Measures when saving the Report as .pbit File. This behaviour exists only for Reports with a Live Connection to SQL Server Analysis Services and the Measures are added as Report Level Measure inside the Power BI Report.Solved2.9KViews7likes6CommentsSend reports by email as PDF applying some filters
I want to set up an automated weekly email delivery to users of a report in Power BI. Additionally, I want to filter each report by the following columns: Machine: Collects the identifying IDs of each machine. In this case, the report may include info from one or more machines, not necessarily just one. If more than one machine is selected, the report is going to show the combined info from the machines selected. Day: Users should be able to choose one or several days, so that if multiple days are selected, a date range is chosen. For example, the user may want to retrieve data from February 23rd to February 27th. WorkShift: This column stores data on shifts for a specific day (morning, afternoon, and night). It is also multi-selectable, so that the user can get info from both afternoon and night shifts for a specific date range (selected previously in WorkShift variable). A case report for these filters could be the following: An user wants to get information from Machines 7, 10 and 12; from the last 7 days (19/02-26/02) and for morning and afternoon shifts (excluding nights). The report may get the info from all these filters, calculate specific KPIs based in this info and retrieve the specific results displayed in the report by email. I've tried both Subscribe to Report function in Power BI (in Fabric) and Power Automate (connected to Fabric, also), but I've gotten the following problems: - Subscribe to Report function: this just gives me the possibility to do a simple selection, not a multi-selection. For instance, if I choose in the filters 2 machines and 4 days, this functionality sends me 8 different report emails (1 per machine and day). I want the combined info, not the info separately. - Power Automate: I don't know how to set this multi-selection functionality in Power Automate, I just know how to send the full report.873Views0likes2CommentsGetting a working account of Microsoft Power BI
Okay, maybe mine is a rather unusual case, since I don’t have a specific problem with the way Power BI works, but with getting it started in the first place. The have the following issue: My job is mostly SEA (Google Ads as well as Microsoft Advertising), and currently I am creating reports for my colleagues and team leaders. Creating reports for Google Ads is reasonably simple, since Google Looker Studio (formerly known as Google Data Studio) is easy to use and freely available. Creating reports for Microsoft Advertising on the other hand is a bit more complicated: I can’t easily connect it to Google Looker Studio (unless I use third party tools, which I‘d prefer not to), so the second best option would be using a tool, app or program from the Microsoft ecosystem that fulfills a similar role like Looker Studio does for Google: Which, as far as I am aware of, would be Microsoft Power BI. Now the problem is that I seemingly can't get it to work, which is in no small part because of the serious dearth of actionable advice for beginners provided by Microsoft: When I try to start at https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-gb/landing/free-account/ , any attempt to actually *create* a free account in the first place is cut short immediately - apparently my company "doesn't allow the purchase of Microsoft Fabric Free", without any additional information provided. This is confusing for several reasons: 1. What role does Microsoft Fabric (free or not) play when it comes to getting access to certain tools or programs? After all, I am here for the Power BI and not for Fabric. 2. Why does a tool called "free" require a purchase? 3. What can I do to remedy that situation? Being told that our IT administrator should have additional information (spoiler: he is just as clueless as I am) isn't terribly helpful. I asked the support but three agents weren't really able to help. I dug a bit further and unearthed this site (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/troubleshoot/), but it doesn't really help either since my current problem #1 - me not being able to get access - apparently isn't even addressed here. Okay, off to the second option, enabling Microsoft Fabric: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-gb/fabric/admin/fabric-switch This seems to be a tad more helpful, but since I am still a layman, I need it spelled out for me. If I am not mistaken, it works as follows: 1. In order to create reports for Microsoft Advertising, I need access to Microsoft Power BI. 2. In order to get access to Microsoft Power BI, I need Microsoft Fabric. 3. In order for my company to be eligible for Microsoft Fabric, our IT admin needs to be either a Microsoft 365 Global admin, a Power Platform admin, or a Fabric admin. In other words: just to gain access to a specific but rather basic function in the Microsoft ecosystem (a function that Google would provide for free in its own ecosystem), I have to navigate a convoluted maze of requirements and prerequisites without actually getting clear and succinct information what to do and where to start. If I didn't know better, I would assume that the people who designed this didn't *want* people to get the opportunity to use Power BI. So... does anyone know what I missed or where I took the wrong turn? Or is it indeed that complicated as it seems?Solved1.7KViews0likes2CommentsBug in Print Layout in Power bi Report Builder
My layout is correct when I run the report in the standard view. However, when displaying the print layout, part of the grid is disappearing and therefore the print ends up being wrong. I have VBA code to display a grid up to a certain number, and the other grid displays the rest. I don't understand why it's only like this in print layout mode.710Views0likes2Comments
