Hi all,
I have a PBI report which is connecting to Power BI semantic models, which is the dataset of the report from another workspace.
This report is then published and show in Power BI app.
I can see all the data in the visual normally on desktop and on the app.
However some users cannot see it and get the error saying "Couldn't load the data for this visual".
It used to work fine before, but suddenly some of my users cannot see the visual anymore.
I'm wondering why I am the only one who can see the data?
Does the user need permission to the workspace even if the workspace is premium?
Could you please recommend the way to solve it?
Remark:
- The workspace of semantic model and my report are both premium workspace
- The report has RLS
Thank you very much for your support.

Hi Amine,
It's basically because the original report, which has original dataset was remove and replaced by a new report (report url has been changed). I followed this post (1) Couldn't retrieve the data for this visual. Please... - Microsoft Fabric Community
I copy the original report to my workspace and it still doesn't work until I add that report to the app. Then it works. I'm not sure whether this is the right way to solve it, but at least it's a workable one.
Best regards,
Hi @Chanokpon
If you add a user to a WS with a role other than viewer then the RLS won't be applied for him.
If you said that nothing has changed in the dataset or the RLS and users used to see data before then you have to check the capacity if you need more or check the visual if it needs some optimization.

Thank you @aj1973
I read through other posts that have similar issue and they said granting the permission could solve.
I have the workspace admin. So, I'm not sure whether this is the case that make only me able to the data.
About checking the capacity, what is the indicator that can tells me it is about the capacity?
I can't see any details under Admin Portal.
If it is due to visuals needs some optimization. I should also get the error message, or not?
Best regards,
Chanokpon
As said: being Admin, Member or Contributor in a workspace doesn't let the RLS to be applied and that's why you can see data in visuals. Though I don't think you want to give access to users to workspace.
It sounds like you need to check out your RLS in the desktop, something must have been changed

Hi Amine,
Do you mean this problem is related to RLS?
However, my users who has role that can see all rows (no data filtered) also cannot see the data.
So, I don't quite understand how RLS cause this error.
I checked the RLS in desktop and nothing has been changed. I tested View as function and it's also functioning normally.
Other posts are talking about granting access to the semantic model, but I'm not sure on which level that we have to manage.
Did the same users who used to see the data through the App, now they can't? Can you please translate the error message!
To give access to the dataset you need to configure it and grant access at the dataset level only

Best regards,
the link 'see details' for the exact error.
This is the detail error from the another colleague. Sorry that it's German.
The error message doesn't say any particular problem though.
Best regards,
