power bi insights is not generating any possible explainations

  1. This is the first time we are trying to use insights functionality.
  2. The report build has a time series with numeric data (this is the minimum requirement for the functionality to work) on visuals such as Line chart, Area chart, Stacked Area chart, Clustered bar chart, Clustered column chart.
  3. The report generates the insights but can't generate any possible explanations.
  4. Below are some details that I want to share with you about the report used in the above example

    1. The report is connected to a power bi dataset.
    2. No other visual level filters applied.
    3. The report is published in a premium capacity workspace.

We're looking for insights to generate possible explanations. We want to know why it is not able to generate the explanations and is there any solution for it. Also, if you could please tell us more about what kind of algorithms Power bi uses to generate insights and possible explanations.

Hi

As mentioned in the post, the report generates the Insights that means there are trends and anomolies in the

report visuals but the only problem is that it can't give us the further possible explainations for those (generated) trends and anomolies.

The power bi desktop is up to date with latest release

Hi @aajinkyaa143  ,

Thanks for the details about the reports used in the example. Based on your question, I have analyzed the following reasons .

Possible reasons:

  1. The data doesn't have significant anomalies or trends.

2.The AI workload is not enabled in the capacity settings of the management portal.

  1. Your versions of Power BI Desktop and Power BI service might be old.

To solve your problems, I will show you some solutions.

Solutions:

  1. Check if the data have significant anomalies or trends. If the data doesn't have significant anomalies or trends, you can try filtering your data or check back later when there’s new data. If you want to learn more about insights, click Find Insights in your reports - Power BI | Microsoft Learn.

2.Check if the AI workload is enabled in your premium capacity settings. This is essential for insights functionality. If it is not enabled, please turn it on. The recommended memory limit for AI workload is 20%. If you want to learn more about setting up AI workload, you can click Connect to AI Insights in Power BI Desktop - Power BI | Microsoft Learn.

  1. Update your Power BI Desktop and Power BI service. Sometimes, functionality improvements or bug fixes can resolve such issues.

If you have any other questions, could you please share more details with pictures about the specific steps you've taken so far and any error messages or unexpected behaviors you're experiencing? This will help in diagnosing the issue more effectively.

Best Regards,
Caroline Mei
