I would like to ask if the data gateway has k8s or docker version?

Hi @pennyhoho117
Thank you for reaching out microsoft fabric community forum.
Currently, Microsoft Fabric does not offer a Kubernetes (k8s) or Docker version of the on-premises data gateway. The gateway needs to be installed on a Windows machine to enable secure data transfer between on-premises data sources and Fabric services. If you have any new ideas we recommend submitting your feedback via the Fabric Ideas forum Idea Forum

Thank you.
As of now, the Microsoft On-premises Data Gateway does not officially support deployment on Kubernetes (k8s) or as a Docker container. The gateway is designed primarily to run as a Windows service and must be installed on a Windows-based machine or VM. This requirement ties into how the gateway handles encryption, authentication (using Azure Active Directory), and integration with Windows-specific components. While there have been community-driven efforts to experiment with running the gateway in Docker or virtualized environments, these are unsupported and not recommended for production use, as they often encounter issues with reliability, performance, and security.
That said, Microsoft is aware of the growing demand for more containerized or Linux-compatible solutions, especially as organizations move toward cloud-native architectures using Kubernetes. However, no official containerized version of the gateway has been released yet. For now, if you need to connect on-premises or hybrid data sources to Power BI, Power Apps, or other services, the supported method remains installing the standard gateway on a Windows host, which can be scaled using clustered gateways for high availability. If your architecture demands Kubernetes or container orchestration, you'd need to design the data access layer so that the Windows-based gateway can still access necessary sources securely and efficiently.
