Hi, i added a connection recently and was wondering what the smart auth method is. I feel like i want a non expiring windows id but really dont know what to consider. Can the community help? i dont want to change this every time my personal pswd changes.
Hi @db042190 ,
Based on your description and the screenshot provided, you are now trying to configure credentials using the windows authentication method, and based on the articles I've looked up, you can either disable password expiration by turning on Local Users and Groups, or disable it via code using Command Prompt.
You can refer to the method in the following article to disable the password expiration policy in local accounts

Is using a service account an option? Our organisation creates dedicated service accounts that have access to specific SQL servers, and we use their credentials instead of our personal ones (credentials are stored in a password manager). Service account passwords rarely change, and that limits the admin overhead and has worked well for us.
