What are the specific differences between SharePoint versions 14 and 15?

We've encountered a few issues with reports that rely on SharePoint as a datasource. Majority of the time changing the [API Version = ##] resolves the issue, but it would be nice to know what the specific differences are and point developers to documentation that specifies why a particular version may work over another and which one to use.
