What are the possible test cases for testing a Power BI Premium capacity ( example : P1, P2 SKUs)?
The goal of the testing is to know how much workload the capacity can take
Has anybody done capacity testing for dev , test and prod workloads? If so please share your experiences.
Hi @Anonymous,
There are multiple possible test cases. Here are some of the possible ones:
Maximum concurrent users: Test the maximum number of users that can access the capacity at the same time, while still maintaining acceptable performance.
Maximum data size: Test the maximum size of data that can be loaded into the capacity, including file sizes, row counts, and column counts.
Maximum query complexity: Test the complexity of queries that can be run against the capacity, including the number of joins, aggregations, and calculations.
Maximum report complexity: Test the complexity of reports that can be created and rendered by the capacity, including the number of visuals, pages, and interactions.
Maximum refresh rate: Test the maximum frequency at which data can be refreshed in the capacity, including incremental and full refreshes.
Maximum dataset connections: Test the maximum number of datasets that can be connected to the capacity, including live connections and imported data.
Maximum data source types: Test the variety of data source types that can be connected to the capacity, including databases, files, web services, and cloud services.
Regarding experiences with capacity testing, there are several blogs about it.
Best regards,
Isaac Chavarria
