Details of error message is :

And I got an Email : Refresh filed(Fig3)

Why does it happen countinuously? Some one please help me? am i have to concern about it or not?

Thankyou, @Akash_Varuna, for your response.

Hi CrouchingTiger,

We appreciate your inquiry on the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

Based on my understanding, the error message "DM_GWPipeline_Gateway_AdoNetProviderOpenConnectionTimeoutError" indicates that Power BI was unable to establish a connection to your Web API source within the stipulated time. This is generally a transient network issue and is not due to any fault in the Power BI setup. Such issues can occur when the API server is slow, experiencing high load, temporarily unavailable, or there is network latency between the Power BI Service and the API. Additionally, API throttling or timeouts from the source may also contribute to this error.

As your refresh operation succeeds most of the time, with a failure occurring only once in eight attempts, occasional failures are to be expected when using external APIs and are not a cause for serious concern.

If you find our response helpful, kindly mark it as the accepted solution and provide kudos. This will assist other members of the community facing similar issues.

Thank you.

Hi @CrouchingTiger It might be due to API rate limits, network or gateway issues, or data volume causing timeouts during the refresh process. Try checking API response times, increasing timeout settings in Power Query, and staggering refresh schedules to avoid concurrency.

Hi, @Akash_Varuna
Thank you for reply.
I have Power BI Standard license. and I have more questions.
1. What is a API rate limits?
1.1. where or how can i check it of my limits? of web url query?

2. Can I control Network or Gateway issues?

3. Is it possible data volume causing timeouts during the refresh process?

because refresh completed usually.(It seems that an error occurs once out of 8 times.)

4. How can I check API reponse times?

5. Could you please let me know more guide for increasing timeout settings in Power Query?
6. Could you please let me know what you mean is concurrency with? I have only one Web API end point.

Best regards

Hi @CrouchingTiger

  1. API rate limits: These define how many requests you can make within a specific time. Check the API's documentation or ask the provider for the limits.

  2. Network or Gateway issues: Monitor the gateway status in Power BI Admin Portal and ensure it’s updated. Use a reliable network connection.

  3. Timeout due to data volume: Large data can cause occasional timeouts. Try optimizing queries or reducing the data size fetched.

  4. Check API response times: Use tools like Postman or browser developer tools to measure call duration.

  5. Timeout settings: Adjust the "Command Timeout" in Power Query's data source settings.

Hi, @Akash_Varuna  Thank you for your kind explaination

  1. API rate limits: These define how many requests you can make within a specific time. Check the API's documentation or ask the provider for the limits.
=> I can't find any limits for provider documentation

  2. Network or Gateway issues: Monitor the gateway status in Power BI Admin Portal and ensure it’s updated. Use a reliable network connection.
=> Could you please let me know more specific?(where is PBI admin portal? and how can i find my report?)

  3. Timeout due to data volume: Large data can cause occasional timeouts. Try optimizing queries or reducing the data size fetched.
=> Thank you and data size is not large, 120 records wiht 14 fields per 1 page

  4. Check API response times: Use tools like Postman or browser developer tools to measure call duration.
    => Response times : 600ms (from documentation)

  5. Timeout settings: Adjust the "Command Timeout" in Power Query's data source settings.
=> Could you please let me know more specific? about Power Query's data source settings
