Using/ disabling RLS in SSAS tabular source

Hi,

We are using an SSAS tabular model as a data source in the Power BI Service. We have a complex set of ELS requirements, which I've built in the model. This all works perfectly when users run the report- they can only see what they're allowed to.

I've now been asked to provide a solution that "disables RLS" for certain reports, ie to provide higher level figures/ analysis.

The only thing I could think of was to create a separate workspace and give users contribtor access...but that then means they can edit the report and view the entire model, so rules that out.

Other than that, my suggestion is that I change the model to add summarised tables that are not impacted by RLS.

So..is there a way of achieving RLS and non-RLS connections to the same SSAS tabular model (eg by setting up a separate gateway, dataset etc), or is the solution as above- change the model?

I would suggest creating the different tables, to try and combine this will add even more complexity.

I have made this in the past and it works quite well.

Thanks @GilbertQ . So you would create summary tables within the model? 

The other thought I had was to create a separate "non-RLS" model but obviously maintenance etc would seem to make that a bit of an overkill approach.

Yeah I would create a summary table. Way easier in my opinion
