Using custom package in PowerBI Python visual

Hi, I would like to use a custom Python package to do some calculations and finally display a Python visual in PowerBI.

Everything works well on PowerBI Desktop (by first installing my package in the Python environment that's referenced by PBI Desktop).

If I publish my report on a Premium workspace, the PowerBI visual does not work, because it cannot find my custom Python package anywhere.

Is there any way to install my package so that it is visible from my Premium PBI workspace?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @fgabbaninililly ,

As mentioned in this blog: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/python-visualizations-in-power-bi-service/

Only the following Python packages are currently supported for use in your Power BI reports:

  • matplotlib
    numpy
    pandas
    scikit-learn
    scipy
    seaborn
    statsmodels

Best Regards,

Teige

Thanks for your reply Teige.

Do you know if Microsoft has plans to add support for more Python packages in the future?

Francesco.

Hi @fgabbaninililly ,

I think we can open an idea at https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas

Best Regards,

I think there is already an idea opened about this:

Unfortunately, it got only 5 votes so far...

I will add my vote now.
