Hi,
Is there a way to link a Dataflow Gen 1 to a shared cloud data source? We are using this for semantic models so I can share the data source without sharing the password, and users would like to build Dataflows Gen 1 from the same data source. I didn't find a way. Dataflows create new connections for every user and they need to know the password for the source.
Thank you very much!
Kind regards,
Martin
Thank you for Sharing this idea, @Anonymous , but that's completly different approach. This way I either need to copy the whole database sever into dataflows or I need to anticipate and restrict which tables users want to analyze. Both options are not really suitable workarounds for my situation.
Hi @Martin_D,
You can create a master Dataflow that connects to your cloud data source (e.g., Azure SQL Database).
Then, share this Dataflow with other users. These users can create their own Dataflows that reference the master Dataflow.
This way, they can use the same data source without needing to know the connection credentials.
Best regards,
Joyce
