Usage metrics report for App-only user?

Just want to clarify if it is true that Usage Metric report and its dataset is only accessible to Workspace admin?

I made a copy of usage metric report, modified it, and published to App. Apparently App-only users are not able ot see it.

Is there any workaround to allow App-only users to view Usage Metrics report?

I just tried:

If I build the report using Live Connection to Power BI Report Usage Metrics Dataset,  the report itself cannot be added in App.  I can share the report to users directly by granting them access to report.

If I build the report using Directy Query to Power BI Report Usage Metrics Dataset,  the report itself can be added in App.  App users are able to see report but are not able see the underlying data - all visuals show error message.   In fact, users are not able to see the report data even granted access to the report and dataset too.  Only workspace roles above viewer can see.

THanks @Anonymous

I made a copy of usage metrics report and customize it,  so effectively the report is a report with live connection to  Usage Metrics Report dataset as data source.

Can I share this report to users? without granting them access to workspace?

Hi @Anonymous ,

I haven't tried but I think the uses still need the access. If you got the different result, please share it here.

Best Regards,

Jay

Hi @Anonymous ,

Only users with admin, member, or contributor permissions can view the improved usage metrics report. Viewer permissions aren't sufficient.
