Usage Metrics is not visible in Workspace after saving a copy.

Using "Save a copy" on a usage metrics report creates the copy in the workspace, but this new copy is not visible in the workspace object list and is also not editable also when i try to open it's sementic model error pops up

"Sorry, we couldn't find that semantic model

It may have been deleted or you may not have access to view it."

Hi @SVCPowerBi1212

First, I want to say that the information provided by @rohit1991 is incorrect.  You can save a copy of the usage metrics report, and Microsoft even calls this out directly: Monitor report usage metrics - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

When you do save a copy of the usage metrics report, you will not see the semantic model as it does not create a new semantic model but rather links back to the existing hidden semantic model.

Although you can't see the semantic model, you can still create fully custom reports on that model in Power BI Desktop. See Monitor report usage metrics - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

The usage metrics semantic model will show up in the OneLake -> Power BI Semantic Model menu in Power BI Desktop.

I just tried saving a copy in my environment, and I am seeing the same thing as you right now - the copy is also a hidden report. This was not the case a couple months ago when I tried this, so this seems to be a bug.

For now I recommend making a new report in Power BI Desktop connecting back to the Usage Metrics semantic model.

If you found this helpful, consider giving some Kudos. If I answered your question or solved your problem, mark this post as the solution.
