Usage Metrics are empty for single-tab reports

I recently updated my PowerBI with new reports, and I know there are dozens of users in each, but usage metrics are empty.

Hi @Anonymous

1.Please go to audit log check if there is any activity for the tracked report/dashboard.

2.To see the metrics for all the dashboards or for all the reports in the workspace, you have to remove a filter. See: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-usage-metrics#remove-the-filter-to-see-all-workspa....

3.It could take 24 hours to update the reports. Please test after 24 hours to see if the data is updated.

4.Your Power BI admin has to have enabled usage metrics for content creators. You Power BI admin may have also enabled collecting per-user data in usage metrics. Read about how to enable these options in the admin portal.

5.Please check these limitations here.

You can refer to the document: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-usage-metrics.

Thanks for the details.

Unfortunately, I am not the admin for my organization.

That being said, I had reporting for the previous files I had published.

The steps that caused this errors were:

1. Reports were published and had reporting going for 1+ years.

2. New files were published, reports from step 1 were turned off.

3. Usage metrics show up blank, although our team, as well as other teams (50+ people), are regularly using these reports.

The only difference between previous reports is that they are single tab reports, while the previous reports had mutliple tabs (this primarily impacted navigation structure).

To me, this looks like a bug.

Hi @Anonymous ,

If published the report again than the usage metric will be empty in he first step. After a while you should be able to see the you usage of the report. Is the issue still there?

Best,

Kathrin

Hi @Anonymous ,

Can you make sure your "Usage metrics for content creators" option is enabled in Admin Tenant Settings.

Link: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/admin/service-admin-portal#control-usage-metrics

Also, incorrect usage metrics information is quite a familiar issue in Power BI.

This is actually a known issue: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Issues/Usage-Metrics-Show-Incorrect-Information/idi-p/758077

You can create a support ticket to get dedicated help from Microsoft.

Give a thumbs up if this post helped you in any way and mark this post as solution if it solved your query !!!
