Hi,
I have an organization (business) account with a Power BI Pro license.
I need to be able to upload excel files to the OneDrive of this account because:
- I want other users (from my organization or not, if I give them access) to be able to modify these files remotely.
- I want Power BI to take these files as a data source in the cloud.
This is what it looks like when I try to upload a file to the One Drive from this account (Image 1). It just says error when uploading.
This happens if I want to upload or create any type of file except if it is a Power BI dashboard.
The licenses that appear that I have are only the Power BI pro license (Image 2).
Can't I upload files from One Drive because I am missing a license?
What license should I get to be able to do what I want?

At the moment I am using a personal account to update the Excel data sources for the dashboard but Power Bi takes this data from a folder on my computer. This folder is shared on a personal OneDrive and other users can modify the files, but I see that if my computer is not online, the dashboard cannot be updated in the Power Bi environment by another computer, since it is my computer that runs the gateway I assume. This is a problem since the rest of the users cannot depend on my computer being online so that the dashboard can be refreshed.
I have tried to connect to this folder via the web with Power Bi but it is not possible. It seems that the credentials always fail. I assume that this can only be done through an educational or business account?
The url in this case starts like this: https://d.docs.live.net/
Thank you.
Hi @MMS2024
What I would suggest to do is if you are running Microsoft teams is to create a new team channel which in the background actually creates a Sharepoint site. Then in this location you can upload the files and grant additional business users access to the same team site as well as the team channel Access this data using the cloud connector to. your data in your sharepoint site.
Hello Gilbert. Thanks for your answer and apologies for the delay.
I tried creating a group, uploading files and sharing the link in my personal account but the link created for the excel is not a sharepoint link, so this link cannot be used to connect via web to Power BI.
In my business account i dont even have acces to Teams.
The only viable solution I see right now is for the business account to have a Microsft 365 subscription. :S
Hi @MMS2024
I am sure you can connect to your Personal account.
If you go to your OneDrive file, click on the selection and then select Details, on the right hand side you will see an option to copy path as highlighted below.
Then use that as a Web Connection.
Log in with your work/domain account and you should be good to go.
Hello,
I don't have the option to copy path in my One Drive personal account.
Where else could i obtain this path?
But in any case this path references the folder in my own computer.
Power Bi Dashboard would be able to be refreshed like this even with my computer offline?
From what all the trials i've done, it seems that web source only admits sharepoimt kind of links?
For example, this is what appears if I use a link that is not sharepoint.
