Unable to see workspace models

Hi,

I'm unable to share much in terms of screen shots due to sensitivity. But I've come accross a strange issue ralting to Power BI Report Builder. If anyone could of any troubleshooting advice I would appreciate it, thanks in advance!

The setup

  • 18~ dataflows from various sources are setup (some excel, some csv, some database) and processed into a presentable state.
  • 3 report "dashboards" (models and visuals) are created to use the dataflows (we're avoiding data marts due to preview status for now) and published into the power bi service (premium capacity).

The next step

We'd like to create additional reports based off of the three semanic models. To log certain key fields and export into excel.

The problem

In the past we have used models within the power bi service and created paginated reports using power bi report builder. However the most recently created data (semantic) models are not viewable from power bi report builder - They simply do not exist.

  • I have checked what settings I know of. Though none have changed recently. (not my strongest point)
  • The semantic models are viewable/useable when using power bi desktop to create additional reports.
  • I am able to create a paginated report within the power bi service and export it as an RDL (this is not suitable, as we need to use muiltiple data sources on one report)

Questions

  • Are there any additional troubleshooting steps to try?
  • Are there any admin (or tenant) settings that can disable this?

Thanks again

Thank you Xianda Tang - Some great reading points there.

I have resolved this myself after simply logging out of my account (inside report builder) and logging back in. I'm not entierly sure if there's some sort of cache or organisation specific setting at play. But I find it a little strange the classic "turn it off and back on" did nothing.

Thanks

Hi @Random_Joe ,

For report semantic models in Report Builder, you need to have the build permission to generate the report.

The Bowlby semantic model that represents the model is either hosted in the Bowlby service or externally by Analysis Severches.

So you can check if you have build permissions for this semantic model first.View tenant settings as an administrator and use the semantic model across workspaces. This setting, when throttled, may limit the visibility of the semantic model in different workspaces.

Below is the official link will help you:
