Unable to connect Finance App for Business Central to my data

Hi all,

I am trying to connect the Microsoft prebuilt Finance App for Business Central to our company's data. I have tried numerous times already and every time it fails.

I'm on a Danish platform of BC365 and updated to version 26.2. The folowing is the error I receive:

Behandlingsfejl: [Unable to combine data] Section1/G\/L Entries/Combine Queries references other queries or steps, so it may not directly access a data source. Please rebuild this data combination.

Hi @Sofie-Olesen,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Forum Community.

Could you please check below points.

Check Permissions: Make sure you have Build access to the dataset; ask your admin to confirm.

Reauthenticate: Sign out and back in to Power BI Desktop, clear cached credentials if needed.

Verify Dataset Type: Exporting to .pbix may not be allowed for live connection or DirectQuery datasets.

Use Power BI Service: Try exporting from the Power BI web portal instead of Desktop.

Best regards,
Prasanna Kumar

Hi @Sofie-Olesen,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Forum Community. And also thanks to @Akash_Varuna for prompt and helpful response.

To fix this, go to Transform Data in Power BI Desktop and check the “G/L Entries” query. If it's mixing data from other queries while also pulling from the source, that’s the issue. Instead, load each source into its own separate query first, then do any merges using those this avoids the error.

Prasanna Kumar

Hi @Sofie-Olesen It might be due to combining data sources with different privacy levels in Power BI. Start by ensuring that all data sources in your report have the same privacy level (e.g., "Organizational"). Go to File > Options and settings > Data source settings, and adjust the privacy settings. Additionally, try enabling "Ignore Privacy Levels" in the Privacy settings under File > Options > Privacy to allow data combination.
