Unable to add a column in Fabric semantic model

Why would the 'add column' option be greyed out? I am the owner of the model:

I have this same problem,  I don't think this question was answered because the Poster was referring to within MS fabric.  The response was geared towards what is seen from within PowerBI desktop base on connections methods to the semantic model.  (This can be seen by the screenshots)

Hi @Fabricator ,

Based on the information you have provided, this could be caused by the connection mode of the data source.

When you are using live connection, you are unable to add new column in Power Bi Desktop. I recommend you to read this article to understand this concept:

Power BI Connection Types: DirectQuery, Live, or Import? Tough Decision! - RADACAD

Here are my test results:

Live Connection

Direct Query

Import

If it does not help, please provide a screenshot of the error screen in question or a more detailed error message.

This question is within regards to it being greyed out in MS fabric, not Power BI desktop.  Is there a solution to this?

Thanks so much!

I have the same issue. I can switch between different connection modes when I'm connecting to on-prem SQL Server.
Is it possible to go with Import Connection type if you're pulling data from Dataflow and Lakehouse?

Have you heard back yet on this?
