We're having a problem with one of our reports. It pulls from an on-prem SQL server and updates just fine from the desktop report. Once uploaded to the Power BI service the report fails to update, but the refresh history doesn't indicate any errors.
I opened a ticket but the support techs don't seem to be able to focus on the issue I reported. Based on our phone call, it seems that the two guys were working on five different tickets at the same time and we resolved several issues that I never referenced as problems. They indicated that they would need the product team was going to work the issue, but I haven't heard back for several days.
Is there a hidden log that I can look at or another method of support that I can call upon?
Hi @NAC-Jeremy,
Based on your infromation, it seems that you conncet on-premise SQL server with Direct Query in Power BI. You could refresh data source in Power BI Desktop, but you have problems when you refresh the dataset in Power BI Service.
Please check if you have install data gateway and add the data source in gateway.(Please install the latest version of gateway)
In addition, do you edit credentials under Settings in Power BI Service?
If you have configured the data gateway, we could export the gateway log to trace the error.
Best Regards,
Cherry
OK, if you are using DirectQuery, that you shouldn't need to do a specific refresh. So, first question, are you using DirectQuery or not? Second question, where is your data source located, on-premises or in the cloud? If in the cloud, what exactly are you using, something like Azure SQL DB or an VM with SQL on it? If on-premises, do you have a data gateway installed and configured?
