Trail account causing Pain in licensed workspace capacity - Urgent help!!

Having a pro license and using fabric under trial license so far and today my IT team spin a new capacity and domain for us and granted me admin privs for the new capacity. i've created a new workspace and assinged to new created capacity to workspace . But when iam trying to create a lakehouse or any other componen, automatically asking for new workspace signup under free trail, Check out below screenshot#1 from dialog box, looks fabric trail capacity and new capacity are different region which is not allowing me. Copied below screenshots including license info and workspace new capacity allocated.

how to resolve this issue? In my trail account having a workspace where holding the poc, until i setup the new workspace under capacity and copy the items, i don't want to cancel the trail. And why it's not allowing me to create the component in new workspace?

just tried a new capacity under north europe region with new workspace and  able to create lakehouse component in it. But it surprise why it's not allowing to create lakehouse component in West europe capacity, automatially it showing the trial dialogue box as above and  new workspace tagged with trail capacity, which is configure under north europe region, screenshot copied as above,  any idea why not allowing in west europe region?

Hi @bsaknop,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

After reviewing the details you provided, here are a few workarounds that might help resolve the issue. Please follow the steps below:

  • Ensure that the regions for your trial capacity and new capacity are compatible. Microsoft Fabric features might not be available in all regions. Verify the availability of Fabric features in different regions:
Fabric region availability - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn
  • First, verify that your new workspace is assigned to the West Europe capacity in the Power BI Admin Portal under Capacity settings. If it's still linked to the trial Fabric capacity, update it via Power BI Service → Workspaces → Settings → Premium.
  • Ensure Fabric is enabled and allowed in the new capacity via Tenant Settings → Fabric Settings. Confirm you have a Pro or PPU license with Fabric enabled in Licenses. Create a new test workspace, assign it to the West Europe capacity, and add a Lakehouse or another Fabric component.
  • If it works, move your assets to the new workspace. Remove the trial capacity if no longer needed to avoid conflicts.
  • Your home region must support the Fabric features you intend to use. If your home region doesn't support these features, you might encounter issues even if the capacity region does. Ensure both your home region and the capacity region support the required Fabric features.
  • Ensure that your tenant settings permit the creation of Fabric items. Go to the Admin Portal in Power BI, navigate to Tenant Settings, and enable "Users can create Fabric items" for the entire organization.

still same problem, despite add my username  under Tenant Settings, and enable "Users can create Fabric items".    Apart from privs adding  on capacity and tenant setting(Users can create Fabric items), does my id  required to add entra id Fabric administration role?

Hi @bsaknop,

After thoroughly reviewing the details you provided, here are a few alternative workarounds that may help resolve the issue. Please follow these steps:

  • Yes, if the user needs administrative control over Fabric capacities, they should be assigned the Fabric Administrator role in Entra ID (Azure AD) via Microsoft Entra Admin Center → Roles & Administrators → Microsoft Fabric Administrator. If they lack admin access, they should contact their Global Admin or Privileged Role Administrator.
  • Make sure the user has the Capacity Admin role in Power BI Admin Portal → Capacity Settings → Assigned Admins. Users need this role to assign workspaces to capacities, even if Fabric is enabled.

Please refer to the below link for better understanding:

Hi @bsaknop

Could I ask you to please make sure in the power BI tenant settings the item that you are looking to create is enabled and you do have access to create that particular item.
