Tooltip text - showing "Click to follow link" twice and hard to hover on tooltip text

Hello,

When I publish to PBI services, my buttons with tooltip text show "Click to follow link" twice, and the hover text that I want to show is very difficult to hover over - and as soon as you do, my tooltip text flashes for <1 second and disappears. Can this be fixed? I don't want to see "Click here to follow link" at all! I only want to see my tooltip text entered in the Visual header tooltip box.

1 ACCEPTED SOLUTION

Hi @Anonymous @imranami

We got the confirmation from the EG team that the issue will be fixed in 2020, but still not yet sure the exact due date.

Currently, the workaround could be installing the Sep. version.

Hi @Anonymous

Would you mind trying to turn down the default tooltip? btw, I'm happy to know where's the visual header tooltip option? that would be much appreciated if you can share your dummy pbix here, I'd like to look into it and if the problem still exists, I'll raise it as a bug internally.

Hi @v-diye-msft,

Thanks for the reply. You cannot "turn down" the default tooltip - you either enter text, or don't. If you do not, it displays the default message "Click to follow link".

Additionally, if you switch on the "Visual header", all the way to the bottom of those customization switches, there is one that says "Visual header tooltip icon". Switch this on, and it gives  additional settings to customize another tooltip.

What is odd, is that - even if I opt to only enter text in the Tooltip box under the button "Action" settings and turn off the "Visual header", it still displays the Tooltip twice. See attached screencaps.

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks a lot for your details! I managed to find the option but still failed to repro your issue. It seems like a bug, could you please kindly provide below info that I can test it again and raise it internally?

1.  Your dummy pbix and the detailed repro steps.

2. The issue appeared in service only or both desktop and service?

3. The version of power bi involved.

Thanks a lot!

Hello @v-diye-msft ,

I am sorry for the late reply. I have reproduced a dummy file, but unsure how to send it or give you access. See steps below:

  1. Steps:
    1. Home tab > Insert Image
    2. Tooltip icon
      1. Format image pane > Visual headers > switched on Visual header tooltip icon
      2. entered text in Tooltip text
    3. Action button Tooltip
      1. Format image pane > switched on Action
      2. Selected Type = Bookmark
      3. Enterted text in Tooltip
  2. Both PBI desktop and services
  3. Version: 2.74.5619.862 64-bit (October 2019)

Re: @imranami's comment - the same issue occurs with shapes, as well.

Thank you,

Scott
