Text filter loading error

We have built some reports in PBI Service and added the "Text Filter" visual from the Microsoft app store. It's been working fine and we've used it on multiple pages within one report.

Oddly, this visual has stopped working for me and me only (all other users don't seem to be affected).

  1. The visual does not load (it just shows a loading spinner)
  2. The visual does not appear in my tiles of available visuals
  3. When attempting to re-add the visual, the modal that usually pops up with the marketplace just hangs on the loading screen. Chrome DevTools don't show any network request trying to be made when that modal opens
  4. When looking in the dev tools, it seems that the `approvedResources.json` request is "stalling" after 30 seconds, which might be the culprit. (See below).

It's quite odd that it's happend and frustrating!  I have also tried to include the visual in a completely new report with a different dataset but the same issue.

Has anyone else experienced this? Would really appreciate some support. Thanks!

Thanks for your reply - I can confirm that the issue was that the URL https://pbivisuals.powerbi.com/  was not resolving which is what caused the issue. When I checked my system's DNS settings, they were set to something other than Google (8.8.8.8), upon changing that it all worked again!

Hi , @lucasmagentus

The approvedResources.json file is used to fetch the list of approved resources for custom visuals. This file is hosted on the Azure CDN and is used by Power BI to determine which custom visuals are approved for use in the service. When you add a custom visual to your report, Power BI checks the approvedResources.json file to ensure that the visual is approved for use. If the visual is not approved, it will not be loaded. However, you do not need to access this file directly when showing the custom visual in Power BI Service. The custom visuals are hosted on the Azure CDN and are automatically loaded when you add them to your report.

And in my computer i can also access the "visuals.azureedge.net/prod/approvedResources.json" website , you can also check if you can access it in your side?:

And i test it in my side , it work good in my expected. And i see when we need to load the text filter in Power Bi Service , we need to access : "https://pbivisuals.powerbi.com/textFilter25A4896A83E0487089E2B90C9AE57C8A.1.2.2.66d9c527ea7a627c82ed...".

And i find the troubleshooting for the custom visual , can you  check if the URL https://pbivisuals.powerbi.com/ has been blocked.

For this , you can also refer to :
Custom visuals failing to load in Power BI desktop for RS (May 2021) - Microsoft Community Hub

Thank you for your time and sharing, and thank you for your support and understanding of PowerBI!

Best Regards,
