Stop report being switched back on automatically by power bi when look at in service

Hi,

We have some reports in a workspace and deliberately have scheduled refresh switched off but whenever look at these, the schedule gets switched on automatically by power bi.

Is there a setting somewhere to stop this behaviour such that if we switch off scheduled refresh it stays switeched off unless we activley want it switched back on ourselves.

Are you saying the scheduled refresh button switch back to ON automatically?

What datasoucre and connection mode you are using? Do you enable automatic page refresh for the dataset?

You may try to clear your browser cache.

Been away hence delay in reply.

datasource:oracle

connection - import

What is happening is what is mentioned by burningsuit the dataset is switching itself on when someone looks at report.

Ideally want option that on selected datasets the secheduled refresh only happens if we explictly set it ourselves.

Is this possible?

Hi @po 

Refreshing happens on a Dataset, the Reports simply reflect the data in the Dataset.

If scheduled refresh is switched off on the Dataset settings, it will not refresh.

However if it is switched on, and no-one accesses a Report for two months the Refresh will be switched off, and turn on again when someone access the Report. which I think is what's happening for you.

Note also that you cannot have some Reports on a Dataset Refresh and others not Refresh, as Refresh happens on the Dataset all Reports on that Dataset get updated.

Hi,

Yes - it is this automaatic switch on which a nuisanec.

e.g. have switched off scheduled refresh as a devlopment workspace but when view the rprot dataset schedule switches itself back on.

Can this automatic switch on be disabled at either tenant or workspace level.
