Steps for upgrading to a premium workspace?

We recently upgraded to a premium PBI license to utilize Automatic Page Refresh through direct query for dashboards from a  gateway.  Have been developing reports and dashboards for a few users under a pro license so don't want to lose current content.  What is the process for upgrading to the premium gateway?

Hi @davebi ,

Based on this document: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-automatic-page-refresh#automatic-page-refresh-in-t...

Premium workspaces - Automatic page refresh availability in Premium workspaces will depend on the workload settings your premium administrator has set up for the Power BI Premium capacity. There are two variables that might affect your ability to set up automatic page refresh:

  1. Feature on/off: if your capacity administrator has decided to disable the feature, you won't be able to set up any type of page refresh in your published report.

  2. Minimum refresh interval: when enabling the feature, your capacity administrator must set up a minimum refresh interval. If your interval is lower than the minimum, the Power BI service overrides your interval to respect the minimum interval set by your capacity administrator.

If you want to know about how to assign the exist workspace to Premium capacity, please refer to Managing Premium capacities article:

Workspaces can be assigned to a Premium capacity in the Power BI Admin portal or, for a workspace, in the Workspace pane.

A workspace can be added to a Premium capacity by using the Workspace pane providing the user is both a workspace admin and has assignment permissions.

After assign the workspace to the Premium capacity, we should be able to use the limit of dedicated capacity, we do not know what you mean "upgrad to the premium gateway".

I'm not sure what to do when we upgrade the license to premium from a mix of pro and normal users.  We just upgraded our licencing last month.  We will review your recommendations if the gateway is updated automatically.  Do we have to reinstall anything on the on-prem gateway or just start configuring the premiuum capacity?
