Slicer (new) visual overflow does not work on Firefox for Mac

I reported this issue through the official channels beginning of July and was told it was put on the list of fixes that would roll out end of that month. Come November and it still is not fixed so figured I'd report here and see if others can corroborate and hopefully get this on the radar this time. It is very easy to repeat:

1. add the slicer (new) visual to a report

2. have it in any orientation (grid, single column, single row)

3. ensure there is a scrolling overflow (so if you have ten rows of data set the grid, column or row to only show five values so you get the scrollbar)

4. publish to service

In Chromium based browsers you can scroll on any device. Windows/Mac/Mobile/etc.

If you use Firefox, it will show the scrollbar on Windows and mobile.

On Mac though, the scrollbar does not exist at all and you canot scroll. You can only select the initial non-overflow values

I understand Firefox is not the most common browser in the world but for the users that do use Firefox they are viewing incomplete reports.

Hi @proeyekyuu

You're facing a slicer scrolling issue in Power BI Service when viewed on Firefox for macOS. The scrollbar is missing, preventing users from accessing overflow values, while it works fine on other browsers and devices.

Suggested Steps:

  1. Collect Evidence: Create a reproducible report and record the issue in action.
  2. Community Confirmation: Post on the Power BI forums to confirm if others face it too.
  3. Escalate: Resubmit to Microsoft Support with evidence and community feedback.
  4. Workaround: Suggest users temporarily use Chromium-based browsers.
  5. Report to Mozilla: Share details with Firefox to address potential compatibility issues.

Hi @proeyekyuu ,

This issue has been identified as a known issue.

This issue should be fixed and you can try to use the latest version.

I'm really not sure how this is considered fixed. If you go the publish to web report I did here using the Tile Slicer (which is I believe the new name of the new slicer) you'll see it is still very much an issue. To restate how to repeat this:

1. Use a Mac
2. Use Firefox browser
3. Go to the URL and try to horizontally and vertically scroll over the first and second slicers

You'll see that there is no scrollbar for either of the overflows. The paginated overflow works, but you are unable to scroll either of the vertical or horizontal overflow slicers at all. This has been an issue for more than half a year now. Is there a timeline to fix this at all?

Here is a video of me showing the issue, first using Chrome (where it works fine) and then Firefox where it does not work.

Hi ,

I watched the video, the slicer visualization scrollbar issue on Firefox, you also have to contact the Firefox browser techs, just power bi side can't fix the Firefox scrollbar issue. If Firefox is updated to the latest version and you still have the problem, then you can only contact the Firefox browser.

Hi @proeyekyuu -

Since you initially reported this issue in July, it may have been delayed due to prioritization. Posting the issue on the Power BI Community forums or Microsoft Tech Community with detailed steps and screenshots can bring more visibility. If multiple users corroborate this, it may increase the priority.

Additionally, periodically checking the What's new in the latest Power BI update - Power BI | Microsoft Learn and updates on Microsoft’s Issue Tracker for Power BI could provide more information on upcoming fixes for known issues.

This is indeed a frustrating bug for those using Firefox on macOS, so bringing community attention to it through forums and support channels may help expedite a fix.

Hope the above details helps.
