Hi Experts,
I have a doubt, we are using SQL DB as a data source for creating reports and we are having access to the database, After publishing to the power bi service, we will be sharing the reports with users, in this case do we have to grant the db access separately to the users or from service we sharing the reports so will they automatically getting access.
Please clarify this doubt and do the needfull.
Thanks & Regards,

They only need access to the db if they want to refresh the data. Even without db access they can see all the cached data in the PBIX. To prevent that you need to use PBIT files.
It depends if you choose Import Mode or Direct Query Mode. In Import Mode no user needs to be granted access to the database. In Direct Query they do need to have access if you choose to enable single sign on in the gateway connection
Hi @lbendlin,
Thanks for the response
I got your point if we are sharing the pbix from our local machine and the user will download and try to open it in this situation do they need access to DB?
Note- not publishing to workspace and not downloading from there, everything is happening at power bi desktop level only.

Kousar
