Sharing Power BI report with Non-Microsoft External Organization user

I want to share my Power BI report with a user from a External Organization who doesn't have a Microsoft/365 account. They use Gmail/Okta. I added the user in Azure Entra ID as a guest user however, they are not able to accept the Invite. What could be reason and solution for this?

Hi @Chinmoy ,

The complete process of inviting an external guest is to require the person to accept the invitation and log into their account in order to do so, this is by design. I apologize for causing you these problems.

Hi @Chinmoy ,

May I ask if this is what you are referring to when you say you can't accept the invitation?

When you invite external guests, you need to ensure that their account itself is registered with Power BI Service, i.e. when they accept the invitation they need to log in to Power BI Service with their account.

Hi @Anonymous, Yes this is the invite I'm referring to. They are not able to accept this invite.

They don't have a Power BI Service yet. But can you explain why is it necessary right now? Right now, I'm just trying to get them added into my organization Entra ID nothing more.

I have future plans to share Power BI reports with them which will be through a link which if they click should be redirect them to my Power BI tenant.

Thanks,

Chinmoy

Unfortunately emails like gmail/yahoo/hotmail are not supported.

I think you are referring to personal accounts with Gmail/hotmail/yahoo.

My users have work emails but they are Google organization domains. Do they need to have a Microsoft/365 Subcription to accept the invite?
