Share a PowerBI dataset

Hi

I have created this PowerBI dataset. I wants to share it so that users can use the function 'Analyze in Excel' but not allowed to delete the dataset:

Hi @Bokazoit,

There are several ways to share a dataset.

Best practice however is to use a workspace and to distribute the content via Apps (read-only).

I'd also recommend to share via A(A)D-groups and put user accounts in those groups.

That way the users can use Analyze in Excel (if that option is enabled by the Administrator in the Admin portal), but can't edit any content inside.

Please remember that anyone that consumes reports also needs a Pro license, or the workspace needs to be in a Premium capacity.

Hi and thanks for the answer.

But why use apps, if the user needs to analyze in Excel. It's a tabular model and the users should be able to use the cube / tabular model for analyzing purpose, but I would like to avoid anybody deleting my file.

I found a way 2-3 month ago, but after a MS update it disappeared. So I do not know what to do 😞

Kind regards

David
