Set up a data gateway and report for organization

Hi,

I have prepared a PowerBi report and uploaded it on the PowerBI service (using my organizational e-mail account). This report currently requires a on premise data gateway setup from my organizational e-mail account to refresh data.

The issue is I am trying to setup the gateway and the report using an account which does not belong to a specific person.  So, even if a person's email address changes, the gateway and the data refreshes will still work as these would be linked not to a specific person.

I wished to know if any solution exists to my problem?

Hi @Anonymous,

After you configure the gateway you can share the report to other users and give them edit access, then they can refresh the dataset properly.And they don't need to be on the same account as the one that configured the gateway and report.

Hi. You can't use something like a Service Principal. The way to go would be creating a user account without password expiration that is ment to be a "service account" to configure the gateway. It would be a good idea to include the account as admin in the workspaces to help schedule everything. Admin users can share the account to configure the gateway and if any user leave the company the account should still be there because it is not asigned to anyone, it's service account.
