Hi there PowerBI community!
At the end of each month I need to report on month end numbers.
The one source is from SQL which contains underlying data, I simply do a count of the rows, the other is a xls file which is on Sharepoint that simply contains the overall number and the date (no underlying data)
I have set it up so the xls file appends to the SQL query in the Desktop. When I refresh and publish to the service the numbers are correct. Problem comes in when I refresh the model in service. The service returns a different number
Example Instead of 14269 I get 99883.
All three queries are setup as dataflows (XLS, SQL and a Date Table)
I was thinking this may be date related so I have tried changing the date type both Using localle... and Default
Also for the XLS file using a direct query in the model to Sharepoint rather than a BI dataflow but unfortunately also not giving me the correct result.
Any more suggestions of what to look for would be appreciated as I have been trying to resolve for the past three days.

Hi @NoelGrieve,
You can drag the same fields into visual and check.
Maybe some filters affect the outcome.

same visual no filters, when I refresh and publish from desktop, I get the correct result. when I refresh via service the number changes to be incorrect.

A couple of things don't sound right here. Power BI service cannot handle .xls files. Did you mean .xlsx ?
What's your reasoning for using dataflows?
yes correct, xlsx file. using dataflows or power query online as this means the query is decoupled from a specific dataset and can therefore be re-used.
