Scorecard Metrics - Connecting to data in a report from an APP in Power BI not working (again?)

Hi Community!

Since some days back, it is not possible for us to connect to data (as we always do) to a report published in an app in power bi.

We get the list of reports available, but the "next" button does not redirect us to the report. Nothing happens when we click on "next". It works when we pick a report directly from the workspace, but then our users will not se any data in the metrics since they do not have access to the workspace (end-users are only allowed to use the reports in a published app)

We have experienced similar issues previously, which i reported last year as well (se link to that post below).
Is there a similar issue that you are working on to fix this time? Our IT support or Tenants have not made any changes in Power BI, or our datasources/backbone etc.
Thankful for assistance, since this completely puts our development on hold 🙂

I found a work around where you can see the app reports in the "Recent" tab when selecting a report to connect to. You can tell the difference between workspace reports and app reports by looking at the owner.

Workspace - Owner will show as workspace name

App - Owner will show as the app owners name

I’m still seeing the same issue on my side.

No changes were made to the modeling.

I reproduced it in both Chrome and Edge with the same result.

As @Lemysterieux mentioned, I can locate and select the report under the App tab, but the Next button remains disabled and I can’t continue.

Could you advise on next steps?

Same for me

I have a user with Build permission that is experiencing the same issue. Adding the report to favourites works sometimes, but not always. Even I am experiencing issues connecting to reports via the App tab, and I am a member of the workspace (but adding the report to favourites seems to work for me). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,

we have the same issue since the last update. Our users with reading rights ahtough not being workspace members could create metrics before but can no longer do so now (button is idle, just like you describe). Is the workspace membership a new requirement now?

Hi @Lemysterieux ,

Can you please try opening it in Edge if you are chrome because sometimes it doesnt work in chrome.
Also, try clearing the browser cache and republish the report. If it still doesnt work, I would request you to create a Support Ticket.

Hi @Lemysterieux ,

Sorry you are facing this issue again.
May I know if there are any changes you did recently to the report in terms of modelling  which might be causing this issue. What is the connectivity mode? Is it a direct query or Import?
Also, is there any error message you are getting?
This will help us to understand your issue better.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. We will be looking into this and keep you posted.

Same issue here

Hi @v-sdhruv

Thanks for your reply!
We have not made any changes recently, and this basically came over night.
We use a live connection to SSAS data cubes (SQL server analysis services), and no changes has been made in the "datasets" in the datacubes. In some cases we have datasets in power bi (import model) and we get the same problem regardless what connectivity mode we are using.
