Scheduled refresh keeps failing

I'm trying to schedule refreshing of my published report in power BI , but have been getting the below error "The credentials provided for the Web source are invalid. The exception was raised by the IDbCommand interface." I suspect the error could be due to excel files making up the data set of the report - but which are in sharepoint (and not in the local disc). I used the source - Web, to upload the excel files into the power BI report. What could be causing the error and making the report fail to refresh, and how do I resolve this?

I appreciate the valuable insight shared by @andrewsommer. They are right when working with Excel files stored in SharePoint, it's best to use the SharePoint folder instead of the Web connector. This ensures proper authentication and seamless scheduled refreshes in Power BI Service.

To resolve the issue, please try the following steps:

• Reconnect the Excel file using the SharePoint folder and authenticate with OAuth. Load the required Excel file, apply the necessary transformations, and re-publish the report to Power BI Service.

• Go to Power BI Service >> Datasets >> Settings. Find your dataset and update the Data Source Credentials using OAuth authentication.
• Enable scheduled refresh in Power BI Service and ensure it runs successfully. verify it runs successfully. Perform a manual refresh to ensure the issue is resolved.

If the error persists, please check the refresh history in Power BI Service under Dataset Settings and share any specific error messages you see.

We always ingest SharePoint files using the SharePoint folder connection and not the web source.  Then you just want an OAuth 2.0 Authentication method.
