Scheduled Refresh fails but manual refresh works

Hi,

I have a report that is due to refresh each morning but I usually get messages like "Your data gateway is offline or couldn't be reached" or "Cannot connect to the mashup data source" or sometimes both.

However when I go to manually refresh the dataset it works fine. Sometimes it will error again (with the message/s above) but usually after 1 or 2 attempts it refreshes successfuly.

Thanks,

Robert

Hi robstewart89,

Are you using on-premises data gateway or personal mode? Please check if the gateway is updated to the latest version and also check if the PBIEgwService is always running on your server.

Hi. If you use non-personal mode check the account which uses to log on for the service of gateway.

Also I advice you to be sure that all security rights work correctly for this user.

Maybe there is connection problems for example if you are using a proxy you can set it up manually in specific config files.

Try to use both of gateway types and look at percentage of errors in all cases

Hi,

I do have an similiar issue. I have scheduled to refresh my dataset 8x times per day but nearly 30% fails. It's always saying "Your data gateway is offline or couldn't be reached" but the manually refresh is always working. Any hints how I can get this solved? What is the best approach to locate the issue?

Cheers

Thomas
