Scheduled Refresh Disabled and Data Source Settings Unavailable in Power BI Report

Hi i need help, when i try to refresh then i realize the scheduled refresh option is disabled, and the data source settings are grayed out in my report.
The data source is from the sql server database

Hi @mmmmm_98 , rajendraongole1, thank you for your prompt reply!

Please check the gateway connection under the dataset and confirm its running status:

Hi @mmmmm_98 - It seems that your scheduled refresh is disabled due to missing credentials for at least one data source in the report. This can happen if the SQL Server credentials have been removed, changed, or not entered correctly.

Login to power bi services and follow the steps:

Go to Datasets from the workspace containing your report>>Click on the ellipsis (...) next to your dataset and select Settings.

Re-enter Data Source Credentials:

  • Scroll down to Data source credentials.
  • If the credentials for the SQL Server data source are missing or incorrect, you'll see a warning here.
  • Click Edit credentials next to the data source and enter the correct credentials.
  • If your SQL Server is on-premises, make sure the Data Gateway is running and properly configured.Check that the correct gateway is selected in the Gateway connection section under Settings.
  • After re-entering the credentials, go to the Scheduled refresh section.
  • Enable Scheduled refresh and set the refresh frequency.

I hope the above details helps

Hi @mmmmm_98 - might be it looks like there could still be permission issues causing the credentials to be inaccessible. Ensure that your account has the necessary permissions for both the Power BI workspace and the SQL Server database.

Since your connection to the SQL Server is via Personal Access Token (PAT), the token may have expired or been revoked on the SQL Server side. If this happens, Power BI will still show the dataset but won’t allow refreshes.

Try generating a new token and updating the credentials in Power BI Service by navigating to Settings > Datasets > Data source credentials and inputting the new token.
