Is it possible to have a scheduled cache refresh with a DirectQuery dataset without having a Gateway?
Solved! Go to Solution.
There is no need to configure the refresh for the online source, Power BI checks about every hour if a dataset connected to a file on OneDrive or SharePoint Online requires synchronization. For more information, please refer to https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/refresh-data#onedrive-refresh
Hi @Anonymous ,
If it is an on-premise data source, we should use gateway. Otherwise, PowerBI Service cannot access the data source, if it is an online source, there is no need to use a gateway.
Best Regards,
Teige
How would I schedule the refresh if its an online resource using directQuery. On power Bi service, the schedule refresh option for the dataset is grayed out.
