Sankey Diagrams in Power BI Service

Hello team,

I am trying to create Sankey Diagram in Power BI Service.

Here is the sample data

SourceRevenueExpenses & ProfitDepartmentsCategoriesAmount
ServicesRevenueExpensesManagerialTraining Sessions           10,000
ServicesRevenueExpensesManagerialOffice rental           16,000
ServicesRevenueExpensesManagerialWages             9,400
ServicesRevenueExpensesCommercialWages           11,300
Product SalesRevenueExpensesCommercialTravel allowance           10,000
Product SalesRevenueExpensesCommercialAdvertising           12,000
Product SalesRevenueExpensesProductionMaterial Payment           25,000
Product SalesRevenueExpensesProductionLoan Payment             8,500
Product SalesRevenueExpensesProductionWages           19,500
LoansRevenueGross Profit Taxes           11,000
LoansRevenueGross Profit Net Profit           13,000

I explored Microsoft Sankey diagram. It accepts data in a specific format. It means, i have to transform my data to what Sankey diagram accepts. Is there any easy way to do it which could accept the data in a tabular format as i shown above or if anyone can suggest any mechanism which i can use to automatically tranform my data to the format accepted by Microsoft Sankey Diagram?

Any help would be highly apcreciated.

Thanks

I recently encountered a similar issue and found a solution with this Power BI visual from the Microsoft Store.

I hope it will help.

Hi @ScottJW ,

TO convert your tabular format into the Sankey accepted format, you can unpivot your data.  And, you will probably have to aggregate the data as well...  but, the unpivot is your first step.
