SQL Analytics Endpoint- DAX Measure

We are launching Fabric and evaluating resources to help train analysts. While following this tutorial, we've run into a dead end and are unsure if we just can't figure out the new interface, if the intended process has changed, or if this is a bug that needs to be reported.

Under Create a semantic model in the Lakehouse: Write a measure in DAX, we can't find where to create the measure anywhere in the SQL AE environment. When we click on the FactOnlineSales table, no new buttons appear under home, nor does a "Table Tools" option.

We've tried searching and haven't had any luck. We've also tried establishing a default semantic model and make sure we're working outside of that, but I'm not entirely sure we've succeeded in that endeavor either.

Model layouts. The previous screenshot was taken while "Used" was selected.

Any advice, recommended training sources to walk through this, or confirmation that this is a bug that should be reported would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @trb7fh,

Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.

It looks like you are unable to find a way to create a DAX Measures in your Lakehouse using SQL Analytics Endpoint Environment. As you are taking guidance from MS-Learn tutorial, there have been some UI changes since these documentations where posted.

I believe you have completed all the previous steps from the MS-Learn tutorial and is stuck in DAX Measures part so, in order to create DAX measures for a particular table follow these steps :

  • Go to the Model View of your tables

  • Then Right-click on the required table and you will see “New Measure” option.

Select the “New Measure" option to create DAX measures.

Thank you! That was exactly the problem. A lot of the things in the tutorial had moved in the UI, but we couldn't find New Measure to save our souls. I tried right clicking in the sidebar, but not in the model layout itself. Thank you!
